Dr. James Walsh is the 15th superintendent of schools for the Bethel Park School District. He began his tenure in the Spring of 2021.
His administrative and teaching experiences include close to six years as the superintendent of the Burgettstown Area School District, principal and a district-wide curriculum supervisor for seven years in the Mt. Lebanon School District; the director of the curriculum and student achievement from 2006-2008 in the Aliquippa School District; and principal in the Hopewell School District from 2000 to 2006. Before entering administration, Dr. Walsh taught English, Theater, and Television Production at Westlake High School in Maryland for eight years and later for two years in the Peters Township School District.
Walsh holds degrees from Duquesne University, the University of Maryland, and Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He serves as an adjunct faculty member at Point Park University’s School of Education. Walsh, a married father of four, lives in neighboring Upper St. Clair.
