Emergency School Closings
The School district is concerned about student and employee safety during inclement weather. The decision to delay, cancel or early dismiss school due to inclement weather conditions is made by the Superintendent in conjunction with the Municipality and the National Weather Service, with the safety of our students paramount in the decision making process. All Bethel Park parents and employees will be called via the School Messenger Notification Service as soon as a decision is made to delay or cancel. Delay/cancellation information can also be obtained from the following outlets:
KDKA - Channel 2
WTAE - Channel 4
WPXI - Channel 11
KDKA - AM 1020
Updates are also posted on the District's Twitter Page (bpsdinfo) as well as the District's facebook, LinkedIn and google+ pages: under "Bethel Park School District,"
or call the Bethel Park Information Line at 412-854-8407.
If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, all Bethel Park Recreation Department activities held in school facilities are also cancelled for that day.
Two Hour Delays
Sometimes the passage of time will enable road crews to clear the roads and allow busses to warm up and transport children safely to school. If a Two Hour Delay is called, students should arrive at their bus stops or at school two hours later than usual.
When a two-hour delay is called, all Bethel Park Kindergarten students will be on a Modified Kindergarten Schedule as follows:
- Morning Kindergarten will attend from 11:20 AM to 1 PM.
- Afternoon Kindergarten will attend from 2 to 3:40 PM.
Quay thử xổ sốModified Kindergarten equalizes instruction for both Morning and Afternoon Kindergarten students to 1 hour and 40 minutes. Please make a note of this new, Modified Kindergarten schedule that will be used on all days with a Two-Hour Delay.
Quay thử xổ sốParents, please also be reminded that on days with delays, building staff is also on that delay, so there may not be anyone at the front door to let your child into the building, should they arrive too early. Please do not drop your child off at school before the delayed starting time.
In the event of an emergency closing, all parents should have prior arrangements made for their children. As it is not always possible to contact each person through the school's emergency calling system, children should be aware of what to do, or where to go, in the event parents are not home at the time of the emergency dismissal.
Delay/Cancellation Information For Bethel Park Students Who Are Transported To Private/Parochial Schools
When there is a Two Hour Delay for inclement weather in the Bethel Park School District, all Bethel Park students who attend non-Bethel Park School District schools will be transported to school two hours later than usual.
When the Bethel Park School District cancels school for inclement weather, all Bethel Park students who attend non-Bethel Park School District schools will NOT be transported to school that day.
If the Bethel Park School District decides to remain open or not delay, even though a private and/or parochial school decides to have a delay due to inclement weather, all Bethel Park students who attend private/parochial schools with a delay will still be transported to school at the REGULAR time.
Transportation to Day Care Centers
The Bethel Park School District will provide transportation only to daycare centers that are located within the attendance zone of the elementary school in which the student attends.
All daycare bus runs are based on the current attendance zones of each elementary school. Additionally, before and after school programs are provided by Lois Johnson at all Bethel Park Elementary Schools, with the exception of William Penn Elementary School.
